58% of UK mid-market Tech and IT leaders report measurable AI ROI — the highest of any function. Among those with mature governance, the rate reaches 91%. The function is both the most capable AI deployer and the most exposed to shadow AI at 54%.
Tech and IT leaders are the gatekeeper that every other function is bypassing. 57% cite business units moving faster than IT approvals. The approval process was designed for traditional software, not AI tools that an employee can deploy in an afternoon.
